📣 Meet this 2025 Role Model— Dr. Treva Brown 🌟 

A proud Baton Rouge native, Dr. Brown is a Physical Scientist at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (Ocean Sciences Division), where she leads advanced microscopy imaging and corrosion research that pushes scientific boundaries. But her impact doesn’t stop in the lab.


Dr. Brown is a tireless mentor and advocate, creating opportunities for youth to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM). Whether she’s leading hands-on demonstrations or shaping national scientific conversations, her message is clear: “Be the change you want to see in the world.”


She holds leadership roles with organizations, including: Editorial Board Member for the Microscopy Today Scientific Journal, Founder and Chair of the Engagement and Fairness Committee for the Microscopy Society of America, and Director of the Physical Sciences Division of the Microscopy Society of America. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the National Organization of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers, the Microscopy Society of America, and the American Chemical Society.


Dr. Brown also reaches communities through pageantry, using her platform to promote STEM access and representation — all while holding local to international titles.


Her service has earned accolades like the LSU Distinguished Young Alumni Award, Rebirth Magazine’s Legend Award, Women of Color Community Service in Government Award, and Proclamations from the Cities of Baker and New Orleans
